Oops, I did it again.

It's no secret how much I love J. Crew (and as of this post, Britney Spears). But what you may not know is that I am addicted to their online sales. What I have learned about J. Crew shopping is that if you fall in love with something, wait to buy it--that sucker is most likely going to go on sale. And really, is there anything worse than seeing that overpriced dress you just had to have being sold a week later for a fraction of the price you paid?
When I saw Elizabeth's post about her latest J. Crew indulgence, I instantly related. During a recent sale, I was mesmerized by the low prices and high style, and found myself with an embarrassing amount of items in my cart clicking "submit order." Unfortunately, the sale is now over, but I am sure there will be another soon.
Full disclosure: here are the items I just had to have...
1. Stowaway Dress- I know what you're thinking: another striped dress. I can't help it! They're just so easy and chic. I love this one for its demure collar, drawstring low waist, and pockets. My justification for buying this? It's the first aqua-striped item in my closet.
2. Striped Button-Back Tee- Yep, more stripes. But its mustard, my absolute favorite! And what you can't see is that it has buttons all down the back--too cute.
3. Esplanade Short- I love that the stiff material and chic color makes these shorts just a tad dressier. Perfect for trying out the shorts + heels combination.

4. Veranda Pant- I was in need of more pants in my life. I tried these on in store before purchasing to ensure a good fit. The rise is slightly high, which I love, and the heavy linen material makes these pants seriously versatile. They also have a nice, fairly wide leg, which makes them extra flattering.
5. Printed iPhone Cover- Since getting an iPhone, I've been on the hunt for a unique and pretty case. Also on my list of requirements? A color that could be seen at the bottom of my purse. I adore this case, both for its beautiful, arty design and its functionality.
6. Collins Suede Platform Peep Toes- Since I practically live in ballet flats, I don't often buy heels, unless I really fall in love, which I did in this case. I went crazy for the mustard color and platform, and I feel like I can wear them for any occasion.

7. Crystal Rays Necklace- I had been on the hunt for a slightly edgy, chunky necklace to add to my collection. I'm obsessed with the large chain and art deco-y feeling of this one.
8. Honeycomb Bracelet (out of stock)- The item that started it all! When I saw this bracelet on Emily's just-purchased list, I fell in love and knew I had to click over to the sale to snatch one up for myself. It was such a good price for a very luxe bracelet.
9. Marissa Crystal Cuff- I'm always on the lookout for beautiful bangles to add to the stack on my wrist, AKA my own personal Arm Party

Phew. Now you know why I am officially on a shopping hiatus.

A Little '70s

{necklace, bangles, shirt- Forever 21, "Kiki" J Brand Jeans, Jessica Simpson shoes, Trina Turk bag, Invicta watch}
I'm obsessed with the fact that groovy '70s style is back on trend (at least for now). I love the look of blousy tops paired with high-waisted jeans.

I don't always find clothes I love at Forever 21, but I can count on finding a great jewelry steal every time I go. This beauty cost me $6.80.

How was your weekend? I'm secretly excited that it's Monday because I'm going on my first shoot this week!

Housewife Inspired

Another workday outfit, another amazing find from Shareen's vintage.

{Vintage dress via Shareen's, Franco Sarto wedges via DSW (old), Urban Outfittters watch, gifted pearls}
I am a total sucker for any piece with even a vaguely '50's silhouette (proof: here, here, here, and here). I just love the feeling of being a little 'done-up' that these kind of dresses easily provide. In this particular number, I totally feel like a retro domestic goddess (think more June Cleaver, less Real Housewives...though I am hopelessly addicted to that show).

The best part of this dress? The pockets!

Only a good '50's housewife would have fresh cut flowers at the ready.

Happy Friday! What are your weekend plans? Mine involve some quality time with a good friend soon departing for a month in Paris (can you say jealous?), a beach day, and some R&R including a pedicure and a haircut. Confession: I LOVE getting my hair cut. It's kind of an obsession. Is that just me?

Monochrome

{American Apparel shirt, J. Crew skirt and necklace, Jessica Simpson wedges, Michael Kors watch, Jane Hollinger bracelet, gifted pearls}
When I realized that I had a shirt and skirt that were exactly the same color in my closet, I knew I had to figure out way to pair them together. There's something so chic about a one-color look.

Confession: This shirt is about eight times too big. It is actually almost longer than the skirt. So I had to do some major tucking in. Can you tell that I rolled the sleeves up as well? They go down to my elbows, so I tried to hike them up in some sort of cap sleeve way, but I'm not so sure it worked. Oh well, this is about as DIY as I get!

I was so honored to be featured in What Would A Nerd Wear's Recent Blog Love post yesterday. If you haven't checked out Tania's adorable blog, you must!

Striped Love

{dress, blazer, shoes, necklace, ring- J. Crew, Michael Kors watch, gifted bangle, Jane Hollinger bracelet, gifted pearls}
I am completely defenseless against a striped piece of clothing, especially if it's navy and white. It is actually pathetic how much restraint I have to show when it comes to shopping; if I see something striped it takes all my will power not to try it on. That being said, when it came to this dress, I had to give in.

I had to have this dress, not only because of its stripes and cinched waist, but also its versatility. It's the most comfortable thing, which means its just as perfect for errands and playtime as it is for work. For my day at the office, I wore this blazer over the dress to up the professional factor.

I can tell I am going to be living in this dress this summer. I mean, what else could a girl want? Stripes, pockets, a bow, gold buttons, oh and did I mention it was on sale? I'm in love.

The sky was quite ominous while taking photos. Los Angeles weather, can you please give us summer already?

Spotted

{photos via FGR}
I've never really been a huge fan of polka dots. Something about them is just a tad too precious for me. But I love the way they look in this shoot. Polka dots are a major upcoming trend for fall, and I can dig them if they're styled in this edgy way. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I have a major girl-crush on Emma Stone.

By the way, happy official first day of summer! What are you doing on the longest day of the year?

P.S. I was dying to show you what I wore yesterday, but I didn't get out of work until after dark. Hopefully I can make it happen today!
